Grow Lightly- LPFF Food Alliance Partner



Bass Coast- South Gippsland Food System Alliance (BCSGFSA)


Forward motion for our region’s food system, Mohya Davies has been appointed Chair of the BCSGFSA and James Duffield has joined the team as the Project Coordinator. BCSGFSA projects are underway, funded by the grant awarded from VicHealth’s Local Partnerships for Food First. With a focus on creating a food system that is healthy, equitable and sustainable, and which prioritises community wellbeing as a collaborative movement, uniting growers, producers, volunteers and consumers to build a transformative local food economy from the ground up.


Partners involved include:

  • Manna Gum Community House (champion organisation)

  • Bass Coast Health

  • Bass Coast Shire Council

  • Buckley Park Community Farm

  • Community College Gippsland

  • Gippsland Region Public Health Unit

  • Gippsland Southern Health Service

  • Grow Lightly

  • Leongatha Community Garden / The Commons

  • South Gippsland Hospital

  • South Gippsland Shire Council


A number of events were scheduled in late 2025 to introduce the Alliance and engage the community to get involved with more events to come for 2026 including online.


The Food Alliance is currently looking for more growers and producers, as well as hands-on roles (gardening, packing), people-facing roles (market stalls), or skills-based roles (logistics, teaching).
