Event recap 2026 AGM
The Grow Lightly 2026 AGM was moved to August this year to accomodate more attendees from the usual November schedule which is usually the busy end of year season. The meeting began with an acknowledgement of country. Grow Lightly acknowledges and pays respect to the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, The Traditional Custodians and Elders, past and present and emerging. We acknowledge their continuing connection to this land, sky and culture. We welcome the progress of Treaty in Victoria. “We must walk together.”
Around 25 attendees dropped by the new Grow Lightly Hub located at the (KRS) Korumburra Railway Station building for the 12pm Annual General Meeting which was followed by a social lunch and get together as a housewarming to our new space.
With a new board member signed up on the day we welcome Helen R to the team and look forward to the skills and experience that they can bring to Grow Lightly.

Getting involved as a board member any time during the year is easy, and more are welcome, and you can even 'try it out' before signing up by requesting to join our monthly board meeting held on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month online via Google Meet, simply send us an email at info@growlightly.com.au , an Expression of Interest form is available via our website, follow the LINK HERE for access.
We are planning to form new working groups for upcoming projects such as the possibility of a platform market, as KRS garden group which has already begun but we welcome new volunteers, as well as policy writing and other projects also.
Currently we have a real need for delivery and pick up drivers.
A Handy person for when things pop up would also be exceptionally helpful at this time, tasks would involve things like painting some MDF shelving, attaching a support to the back of our bookcase, fixing some chairs and table legs etc.
If you could spare some time to do a few jobs here and there we would be most grateful and materials would be supplied or paid for by GL. We appreciate our volunteers and don't expect a financial contribution, your time is valued.
Lucy, our star Shop Manager delivered their report on the day showing the increase in number of orders on average over the past financial year, showing that our community is hungry and wants to access locally grown, fresh produce, grown by organic methods, and we also offer some certified organic produce.
This brings me to the the next big topic, we need more local food grown! Grow Lightly gets asked regularly to supply other organisations and connect local growers for supply to other areas, unfortunately the reality is that there is not enough food being grown in our region, with the substantial loss of many large growers over the last 30 years, this has been a hot topic for many of the organisations involved the with BCSGFSA , of which Grow lightly is a partner, and we are actively promoting and supporting new growers, big or small to get more food planted, crops harvested and we can offer the means to connect with local customers through our diffrent initiatives.
2 large tubs of lemons were donated by a lovely local and have been snapped up by our community, food access is something that Grow Lightly is very focused on and we hope to have a little food stand of shelf stable items available at the station in the near future, seperate to our operations. #foodsecuritymatters
Now is the time to get involved, we NEED YOU, and we all need to eat! If you think you would like to connect with your community in some way, get involved and have some time to offer your help we have a variety of roles available.
Grow Lightly operates as a weekly online shop, LINK HERE, as well as a Farmer's Market stall on the 2nd Saturday morning of each month located at the Coal Creek Farmers Market, Silkstone Road, Korumburra.
